The wheelbarrow vehicle met all of our functional requirements:
It supported group members that were about 100 kg. It cost $125 ($25 below budget). The turning radius was less than 3.5 feet. The mass of the entire vehicle was 5.6 kg. The only non-paper/foam product was glue, 0.25 kg worth. The vehicle operated in all terrain (we didn't get to test it in snow, due to uncooperative weather). The vehicle did not fracture on dodgeball impact. Tournament Performance:
Although our sketch model vehicle met all the requirements, the performance during the dodgeball tournament was less than stellar. The vehicle didn't fracture upon impact, but in the last few rounds, the glue was starting to come apart. The vehicle was comfortable to sit in, but didn't offer the most active playing position for the rider. Additionally, all of our team members are far from professional dodgeball players. |
Overall, team Flipped Gender Ratio was able to brainstorm, refine, analyze, redesign, and ultimately manufacture a sketch model dodgeball vehicle that met both the class- and team-specified requirements.
